You have to have a passion to become a scientist - no one can tell you what to become - you have to decide that for yourself.

I can tell you that once you do become a scientist in an area you are passionate about - use your knowledge, logic, and reason to explore the world, and draw conclusions, that will provide answers to question that will better explain the world as we know it.

This knowledge will better the Earth. It won't better global warming - or anything as dramatic as that (maybe) - but each little piece of infomation builds upon itself until we have a collosus of info - which makes for new advances in understanding and technological achievements - to better mankind, and the Earth.
