Marine corps training is very difficult, the duty is very tough. That being said, it is very good for some guys. And maybe females, too, I guess. It offers a huge challenge which one can meet, it offers structure and fulfillment. I know a guy who was a total wreck before joining the Marines, and came out ... all I can say is a real man, an adult, serious, and he has gone on to a successful life. So it is seriously tough, difficult duty, and dangerous, but it does have its beneficial side as well. I would rather be in the Navy, however.

Its the best thing that even happened to me in my young life. I thought I was a dude--football player, good looking, full of piss and vinegar. That lasted about 10 seconds after I got off the bus at MCRD San Diego. I thought I had died and gone to hell. I wanted my mommy. But I survived and they turned this wimpy kid into a man literally overnight. It was a grueling 11 weeks of intense physical and academic training. But it was worth every minute. Four years later I was combat veteran out in the world with a can-do attitude and subtle regrets about not making it a career that still linger to this day---and that's 40 years later. I have never been more proud of anything that I have done in my life. I am constantly meeting former Marines and instant brotherhood ensues no questions asked. Its a bond that will always be there no matter what happens the rest of your life. In my entire life I only met one man who was sorry he joined this band of brothers. Its a tough and demanding occupation. But the rewards last a lifetime. Go for it and good luck.

Don't worry, I'm not a recruiter, but I do teach high school, and have seen many go to the military and come back different people. It is a good opportunity, teaches much discipline, and looks VERY good on a resume when you get out. Marines are respected and, no matter what folks say, the military teaches a lot. If you do go in, before you go in, work on your stamina and cardio-vascular excercises. Good luck

A lot people hate it at first...but later in life when the discipline helps you as a life skill you appreciate it later and learn to love your relationship with the Marines.

What you do is join the Air Force to get a job there that can get you money on the outside. Like if you like to be a police man or fireman.
Marine Corp is like good, do not knock it. But then it is a matter of taste.

Not while Bush is in office!
My son had a motto about the USMC only a month after he joined.
"Eat the apple. Leave the corp!"
Don't become cannon fodder in Bush's delusional war on Iraq!!!
Go to college instead!!

Thinking of Enlisting?
http://www.afsc.org/youthmil/thinking-of-enlisting/default.htm
Signing up for the military isn't like taking a job or registering for a camp or school. It is a serious decision that has lifelong consequences. Recruiters are quick to emphasize the good points about being in the military, but there are many downsides. What recruiters say about life in the military at best omits many facts. At worst, recruiters tell out and out lies to sign up recruits.
Watch this Video!! (YOU TUBE)

---------------------------
Before You Sign a Military Enlistment Agreement:
http://www.afsc.org/youthmil/thinking-of-enlisting/10-points.htm
* Do not make a hasty decision by enlisting the first time you see a recruiter or when you are upset.
* Take a witness with you when you speak with a recruiter.
* Talk to veterans.
* Consider your moral feelings about going to war.
* Get a copy of the enlistment agreement.
* There is no "period of adjustment" during which you may request and receive an immediate honorable discharge.
* Get all your recruiter's promises in writing but also remember that the military can change the terms (such as pay, job, or benefits) of your work.
* There are no job guarantees in the military.
* Military personnel cannot exercise all of the civil liberties enjoyed by civilians.
* Many opportunities exist for you to serve your community and enhance your skills.

Good Luck! ;)

Dear Politically Incorrect (apt name);
My son served his full contract admirably but regretted joining.
Thank you for your service but times have changed.
Next time; direct your nasty remarks to me, and not my son!
Brotherhood, my ***! You proved it's BS!
Anybody thinking this is the time to join up is nutz or ill-informed!

First you have to spell marine corp correctly. On second thought the marines is good for you, you'll fit right in.

I did that.
I joined.
If you want to be a man and get the self confidence that you need to be proud of yourself forever, you should join.
If you can't handle hard work and people yelling at you,
back off.
