same for any car
the seals are leaking or not enough oil
if the car is really old, maybe just get 50 weight oil

You gave very little to go on.... So, no oil in crankcase, too light of oil grade,, if it is an electrical guage the sender could be at fault(change it), biown fuse for gages, broken wire. Hook up another gage. Try a mechanical one. Dirt clog in the oil supply line.

either out of oil or your oil pump is not pumping the oil through the engine.
