Don't worry, two negatives equal a positive. In other words, if you commit murder and then lie about it, you should be good. Just ask a former sports star, or maybe a politician or two for detail on exactly how it works. Also, pure volume can make it OK, too. The threshold seems to be about 10,000 deaths or so. Once you hit that level, people kind of figure your onto something and just let you do your thing.

Only in the eyes of God. Unlike man, who believes in various degrees of wrongdoing, example: a little white lie as compared to mass murder, God looks at all sin as on the same level. God shows no partiality and is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34-35), so there is no sin greater than any other sin. All sin unrepented of will cause one to be condemned. You will go to Hell as quickly for telling a lie as you would for committing murder. Sin is a trangression of God's law (1 John 3:4). All trangressors are subject to spiritual death, separation from God. If we physically die in that state, we will face an eternity without God. Note what the bible says about both lying and murder in Revelation 21:8, "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and scorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
Do you still feel that you should be okay then???

Although death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) the act of murdering and the act of lying are not the same. They are both an abomination to God (Proverbs 6:16-19) but some sins are greater than others (John 19:11).

Well, if you believe the more extreme fundamentalists, one sin is the same as any other in God's eyes. I think most people, however, would agree that there are degrees of sin, and that murder ranks higher on the scale than lying--then again, I guess it depends on the nature of the killing, whether it's justifiable (self-defense, for example), and the nature of the lie; I guess in certain circumstances, you could argue the other way.
Are you saying you've lied and murdered? (Don't answer that; the question is completely hypothetical.)

Is Murdering the same as lying? Depends on whom you're asking, and from which perspective you're looking to receive the answer from.
From an earthern/worldly perspective? Murder is a billion times worse than lying, you're wronger than wrong, going to hell faster than a rabbit instead of slower than a turtle if you just only lied. That, is the worldly, earthly, ungodly perspective.
But the truth? Murder IS the same as lying, as well as many other points of law which points out sin in each and every single human being on the face of the earth. Murder is sin, lying is sin, sin is sin, when brought before a holy, righteous, perfect and sinless God.
You shouldn't be okay, because murder is the same as lying, you shouldn't be okay, because sin is sin. When you die, and you die still trying to pay for your sins....whew....down into an eternal sea of fire you go. Ever place your face on a stove burner, and have someone sit on it? That's just the beginning of hell.
Thank God we know that Christ was born of a woman, and God himself walked around on earth in the flesh. Thank God we know that Christ sacrificed himself FOR our sins, and once we believe him and trust his shed blood on the cross for our soul's salvation, hell and death is a thing of the past.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved!

In the spiritual context all sin is sin and is wrong. It the world, the legal system is not the same and have different ways to live by. Lying is never okay, that is a lie told to you by the world and those who follow the worlds way. Never confuse the ways of the flesh and the ways of the spirit. That is how Satan operates, he comes to lie, decieve, hurt and destroy.

No they are not the same thing. They do, however, have a shared element, that being the first is the hardest. Each additional lie or murder makes the next easier to do. You become conditioned to it with some people beginning to actually enjoy doing it.

In God's eyes all sins are forgivable if you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. However, the Bible says that God disciplines his children. Incarceration for murder is classed as discipline. Sin is sin in God's eyes, but don't expect to get away with breaking the law because God forgives you. After David committed adultery and murder, his life spiralled downward from that point on. God was disciplining him.

Since you're asking in this section, I assume you are wondering what God thinks? Consider Moses, who couldn't enter the Promise Land because of just one sin. The question to ask yourself is whether it was because of the sin he committed, or thinking that it wasn't that big a sin so shouldn't count? Did he assume to know the heart of God?
It is not a matter of whether you think one sin is worse than another, it is a matter of whether you are making a valid effort to live in God Light in all things, great or small?
Now, what if a lie results in tow death. A mother threatens her 7 years old into accusing her father of sexual abuse to prevent him from going for custody. The story takes on a life of its own and the man ends up in prison. Five years later, the girl wants to clear her father's name, but learns that he had committed suicide soon after entering jail, as a result of her allegations. The next day she killed herself. Now, is a lie the same as murder?
