My best friend is having one (the reason I cant explain 'cause are personal) but she is afraid of the reactions it may cause. The doctor told her that since she is 5 1/2 weeks she could use medication to stop the fetus from growing and then 2-4 days later another pill that cause like a miscarriage reaction and the cramps are similar to period but more painful and bleeding is intense. I want to tell her something for her to dont feel so afraid and frustrated, it is already psychological pain, so please tell me something. Expiriences, obsevations, anything you know about it may help her out.
Thanks!!!

I had a 'medical abortion' and i dont regret it....physically, the cramping is pretty intense, but take some tylenol and stay in bed. It was bad for about two hours if i remember correctly....For the next week or two bleeding will be about as heavy as a normal period, like after having a child, bleeding gets more intense if you do more physical activity, so its best to limit walking, lifting, and exercise for about a week - 10 days.
I do think this method is easier than a full 'surgical abortion' and less painful, and less invasive. I do remember I was back at work the next day.

I have had to do it and I have also given birth to three children. Don't listen to these people saying it is worse than giving birth pain, it is NOT.

It does hurt more than a period but you can get a few painkillers for it from the doctor. It is nothing like labor and delivery.

I knew a grown woman that took a similar medication and it was like having bad cramps but she was able to do this in her own home and it's not invasive.

It will less painful and intense to actually have the baby then to abort with that pill!! I know what your talking about, a friend of mine actually did this once a few yrs ago because she wasn't ready for a baby. She learned real quick what she did was a mistake! She said she bleed soo bad she thought she was going to die! It's a lot worse than period cramps, like 100 times worse! I don't think your friend is aware of what she is doing but if she wont change her mind than you should support her decision, she's going to need a good friend to get through this!!

Having done something similar apropos of a 'missed miscarriage' -- yeah, it's painful. Think 'worst period ever, times ten.' Sorry...!

Make sure she's sent home with a more-than-adequate supply of strong painkillers. It does not, at least, last long.

It is very painfull, and the pain is compared to the one you have when you're actually giving birth not just period cramps. I'm sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for but it's the truth, it hurts like hell.

I don't think the abortion pill works that way. If I am not mistaken, you have to take it within 72 hours of having sex, and it keeps a "possible" fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus. I have never heard of a woman taking a pill to cause an abortion, but that don't mean it's not out there. She should seek counseling because of the emotional impact this is going to cause to her. If she is having any kind of doubts, she might want to consider her decision a little more carefully. I don't condone abortion but it's her decision.
