I just had mine out on Monday. My oral surgeon told me it was fine to eat before the surgery, so long as my teeth were properly cleaned before hand. But, I only had Novocaine. If you are sedated then you are not suppose to eat before the surgery.

Yes, if your having gas, you aren't being put to sleep. Nitrous, or gas, just makes you "feel floaty" and "not care" about what's going on in your mouth. You are very aware of whats happening, it just relaxes you to the point of "not caring". You don't have to worry about not eating since there is not a risk of aspirating as there is with IV sedation. Actually I always tell patients to eat, because it's going to be awhile before you'll be able to eat normal again! Good luck!

Not a good idea, unless you hate your dentist, but you could choke as you lose voluntary response to some degree.

Call your dentist's office. They will (and should have already) tell you.
