In John Daly's book, he says he lost a bunch of weight in college by switching to Jack instead of beer and smoking Marlboro lights instead of eating. I was wondering if whiskey is better for you than beer....in terms of calories, fat content, etc.

Depends what kind of beer you drink, light might not be too bad. Whiskey is alright unless you drink it with soda (one can adds a whopping 100 calories.) I think that just like everything else, moderations is key. Smoking may get you skinny, but it definitely is bad for your overall health, so if you are not a smoker yet, don't start. It's a costly habit too.

I would say that Carolina has hit the nail on the head. My husband turned to Jim instead of beer for the same reason and has lost some weight and he used to drink light beer. This is a very good question. The smoking thing is also obvious from Caroline and a great response to your question. Thumbs up to Caroline!

Absolutely not. Hard liquor is 'empty calories'. That is to say there is no nutritional value. Beer has protein, trace fiber, no sodium and no cholesterol.
