David..it is my understanding that he had been painting the usual landscapes and whatnot common for the time fellow artists came over and wanted to get a drink so he leaned the paintings over on their sides for whatever reason and went and had a few with his bros. When he got back that night he saw for a brief few seconds what those paintings looked like on their side and he realized that he did not need to continue to paint things that were recognizable shapes anymore and still get the feel in the painting that he wanted... in fact get that feel much better so he embarked on a path of painting that to him looked like what music sounded like. all in all I am very glad that he did..... there are 1000's of landscape painters but only one Kandinsky,

Landscape is the most traditional, common subject in painting. Many painters are eager to paint things that have not already been done, re-done, and overdone. Kandinsky left the conservative behind and became an innovator. What more reason do you need?

only because you could't discover an artist on the internet does no longer mean that they don't seem to be being painted. My pal make a really cool panorama very last week. even as it wasn't as tremendous because the artists in the 1700s i idea it became tremendous.

You will have to check out the dates, but I think it is connected with him teaching at the Bauhaus and the consequent formalisation of his ideas, possibly to make them easier to teach to students.
Similarly, you might check out whether his change in style coincides with writing of "Point and line to Plane", whiere his (crackpot) ideas are spelt out.
