I guess that they are afraid.

If I asked you why you don't believe in God, that's a question, not a debate. If you write back in a debate about why you're right, I"m wrong and start insulting me, I will cut you off and tell you to not write me anymore.

A debate is where I'd say, "What makes atheism better then Christianity, because I don't think there are any points that will prove atheism is better" and you have to prove to me while I try to prove my point to you. THat's a debate.

Didn't the apostle Paul and King Soloman warn us not to debate with a fool?

Mark Twain said something similar: "Don't argue with an idot, people might not be able to tell the difference."

In other words, there is a difference betweeen a debate, where both sides are actually listening to each other, and an exchange of bitteriness & abuse (an argument), which Christians believe to be a sin.

Next time, try to calm down, and maybe people will listen to you.

Debate is about reasoned argument with analysis and interpretation of fact. Faith is the acceptance of something without demonstration. Christian's never want a debate, they want to have what they say accepted without question. When it becomes apparent that isn't going to happen, they give up.

Because you are not debating the right ones or the debate is not productive (proverbial beating of the dead horse) so to continue with it would be a waste of both yours and their time. I would not take it as a sign of intellectual superiority. Maybe its because you demand answers to obviously absurd questions as a means to debunk Christianity and are unwilling to accept the answer that is given because it explains that which you question.

Friend, This Christian has never told you that, what do you want to talk about, I know why you don't believe in God, & I know why I do, so just take off from where everyone else has left off, I am not afraid to talk or debate, you see after serving God for 37 yrs. I know where I stand at, & I won't have to cut you off, So let the conversation begin.

Have you ever heard this expression? A (man) convinced against his will is of the same opinion still? When you argue are you listening to the other side too? Are they? Opinions cannot be argued! It is how one feels. My feelings say atheists are wrong. Some of theirs' say they just don't have any evidence to the contrary, some just refuse to consider any other possibilities. It is pointless to argue. My belief is strong and will not be persuaded otherwise, maybe yours is too. Or if you are willing to debate maybe you just want to be convinced of the truth?

If i was to ask you why you don't believe in God, it is a question and not a debate. All I would be looking for would be a simple reason why you didn't believe, that does not mean I am interested in a point by point debate.

- Sadly, many Christians aren't well versed enough in the Bible to keep themselves from being frustrated.

- As Christians we are supposed to share the good news to plant the seed, but the rest is up to each individual to seek the truth for themselves.

Because once they say their piece, they have nothing else to pull from. They get confused when someone argues with logic. They only have a few retaliating comments. You might as well argue with a sloth.

If it becomes a debate about the Word of God, He says that we are not to argue His word. It will speak for itself. Who are we to convince of what God makes true daily? I love to listen to other points of views on life and religion though. It helps to keep us human on our spiritual journeys.
