Many people take their laptops with them. They are safe in your room. Using the ships internet connections are expensive. Take an extra battery and charge with you.
Enjoy.
Plus, you will find at most ports of call places that offer the internet at alot more reasonable prices.

I travelled on the Norwegina Dream recently and didn't bother bringing my laptop. You are either charged by the hour to use their computers or you can wirelessly connect to their network for a fee.

If you still need to take your laptop for work or such, while you are wondering around the boat the first day look for raffles to win packages of internet time. I found one right outside the intertnet cafe or ask any of the very helpful and knowledgable employees how to win free time. Enjoy your cruise!
