I find it humorous that this person equates being hassled to getting written up for "breaking stupid rules" or "having extra things in your cell." In my estimation, those officers were doing their jobs and making sure the criminals were playing by the rules. The ones who were "OK" were probably the ones who let the rules violations go and didn't do their job!
The easy solution to not be "hassled" by CO's is don't break the law. If you don't break the law, you don't go to jail. If you don't go to jail, there are no CO's in your life to bother you!

As a C.O. myself I would much rather have a nice, smooth night without any problems but there are always a few inmates that feel they need to test you by breaking the "stupid rules" to see how far they can push the limits. I don't make the rules and I can think of a few that even I think are stupid but it is still my job to enforce them. I try to concern myself with the safety and security issues and not so much the little things because sometimes it's just not worth writing a report for having a use of force over a pack of sugar or jelly stolen from the kitchen or an inmate saving bread from his tray to make a sandwich for later.
On the other hand, if an inmate ignores the rules by not locking down when I order, shouts profanities at me, threatens me, or otherwise disrespects me I will go out of my way to "wind him up" and I don't enjoy it. I always tell them that I will show them the same respect they show me.

My husband is in prison. Basically there are some people who are bullies no matter where you go. There are good COs and bad COs.
There are rules and regulations anywhere you go and there are consequences. Some of the rules are quite pathetic, but they need to be respected and followed, even if you don't like them. IF you find the COs are going against the Policy and Procedures, then you can go up the chains of commands to have the situation straightened out. There are times when inmates ARE harassed.
Just keep in mind that the COs have a job to do. Most COs are really not the most qualified for the job and personally I feel COs should have a college degree in human services. But then again, they would have more difficulties finding potential employees.
I tell my husband, this is temporary. You need to pick your battles and KNOW what the rules and regulations are. Also I have to remind him that he isn't going to like where ever he is at this point and no matter what is going on, he still may not like it, so he needs to get over it and just do his time.

Well first of all CO's have a job to do (i work at a prison) and believe me we get yelled at for almost everything, so we gotta make sure everything looks good, and inmates are doing what they are supposed too.
BUT still that dosent mean hassle the inmates. Its a thing of authority. Most likely the "tough" CO's dont have any type of authority in the real world, so this is the only way to do so. Even though you are in jail, everyone should be treated with respect.
Keep in mind as you might know...CO's are the same as inmates...You got your good respectable inmates, that just wanna do their time and leave.....and you got inmates always trying to get away with something.
Thats life...Its a game of Cat & Mouse....

Of course the outstanding citizens, also known as inmates, should be treated with the utmost respect. You break rules that land you in jail, then you admit to breaking more rules while you are inside jail. Sorry, I really don't feel bad for you. They are not hassling inmates, they are doing their jobs.

No one seems interested in answering your question. Only reprimanding you. I think the problem is a lot people who seek a job in the "law enforcement" field are drawn there by the idea of bullying the weak. There are also those who seek the position to effectively hide their own degenerate and perverse desires. I'm starting believe the majority are this way.

Horrible, evil plague of society. Criminals like you deserve whatever they get!!
Juuuust kidding...
The COs are probably harrassing you because they feel it's their job to enforce stupid rules that don't really make any sense. Probably gives them a sense of power, to have control over people who don't. There are bullies everywhere and you just gotta put up with them. They obviously have some problems of their own, and that's their problem, not yours.

Well, maybe if you did not break the law, you would not be subject to such "bullying". I don't know what you were in for, but did "you" take any consideration into the actions that put you there..???
