I don't know anything about Saturn, but I do that Kia's 100,000 mile is a joke. I have a 2003 Kia Spectra and NOTHING that has ever gone wrong has been covered by the warranty. It is only a 100,000 power train warranty, which means only the engine and tranny are covered for 100,000 miles, the rest of the car is olnly covered for 60,000 miles and the first time anything went wrong was a mass air flow sensor went out at 63,000 and it wasn't covered. Once that 60,000 was over it seems like everything went wrong. My passenger side seat belt cover broke off, my cd player sometimes keeps the cd's and you have to turn the car off and restart it to get the cd back and the paint is peeling on the back bumper. Another thing about my car is there is a huge amount of road noise. Even with all the windows up you can hear the outside traffic like your window is down. My bf has a saturn and even though it is way beat up and not in good condtion, I would say it is quieter than the kia. One final thing. Kia offers free road side assistance for 5 years. What you need to know is that it only coveres for mechanical problems such as flats, ran out of gas, etc. It will not cover you if you get in a accident. I just found that out as I got into a fender bender on the freeway and called for a tow and was told I would have to pay for it out of pocket because it doesn't pay if you get in an accident.
There are some good things about the car, the stock stereo kicks ***, it sounds really good, the car handles well, even my dark green four door looks pretty sporty and the car has a lot of get up and go. I like that I have a stick shift and cruise control, the heater and a/c work really well and it is comfortable.
BTW the only reason I bought a kia in the first place was the warranty, I guess I didn't do a good enough job of reading and understanding that before I bought it. It's a good think you are doing your reasearch first so you don't make a mistake like I did.
Hope this helps!

Saturn all around. These warranty claims are just on the powertrain. It's not a bumper-to-bumper. That's still just a 3 year 36,000 warranty, and all things are equal. After that, the things that will most likely go wrong are in places other than the powertrain, so you have to look to which car is better built. And the award goes to the Saturn- hands down.
Benefit of the Kia is the lower price as compared to the Saturn. If price is more important than quality, go with the Kia. If quality is more important and you can easily fit it in your budget, go with the Saturn.
I'm guessing you already know that Saturn doesn't haggle on price. You pay the sticker price with them- Period. There isn't a lot of markup in a Kia, so there's not a lot of haggling room, but there's a little. $100 to $200 above invoice should be about what you should pay for a Kia.

Saturn, no questions asked...better built with more quality materials and components than any Kia...yea they are trying to lift their game, but right at the moment, Saturn is far and away a much better brand.
Saturn has one of the highest customer satisfaction rates of all North American brands, so that's a real indication these people are very happy with their cars for both the short and long runs.
If you are looking at getting a new car, and Saturn is right for you, try waiting around till Autumn for the new Saturn Astra. with a 3-door coupe and 5-door hatch, this car drives fantastically, has great looks, excellent build quality and sporty performance...plus reasonable fuel economy.
Still the new Aura, Sky & Outlook are all exceptional cars as well, with great handling, looks, value, performance and innovation.
Saturn is really leading GM in the North American market, showing the potential for what GM could be.

I owned a Kia Spec for around 1 week and took it back to the dealer, a 2003, it sucked...sorry Kia and Saturn are both pretty low on the car charts, If i were you I would go saturn all the way if you can only get saturn or kia, otherwise go Honda or toyota...those are all I buy!
