I have a problem with frequently needing the toilet, made worse when travelling or out somwhere without a nearby toilet. I have been prescribed 'Vesicare' - Solifenacin Succinate, but don't want to take it every day. Is it safe to take long term or will my bladder become used to it and not work effeciantly without it? Could I just take it when going on holiday then stop, then take again when needed? Thank you.

Are you male or female? How i sympathise - I can't be much help but I can let you know you are not alone. The past 3 years have been hell for me for exactly the same reason. I have had every test and pill known to man. I can't even get a diagnosis. So hang on in there, you are not alone, and if anything works I would like to be the first to know. Nobody can understand how a thing like this can take over your life. Best of luck in your search for a cure.

You obviously have a condition called urge incontinence and that is what the medication is used for. You can take it long term as many people do. Taking it only occasionally won't give you the full effectiveness you need so take it as prescribed.

Having your blood sugar check for diabetes would be a good idea. If your GP doesn't know all the side effects, I would be concerned about taking the medication. It might be time to talk to the pharmacist or asking for a referrel to a doctor that specializes in the urinary system. (I'm sorry I forget what they're called.)

It would be a good idea to ask your pharmacist. He has all of the side effects in his records. It's better to find out from a professional.
If he say it not that good; ask him if he knows of another medication that will work. If he tells you one; then call your doctor and ask him what he thinks about you taking it. Then, if okay, the doctor can send you a prescription to the pharmacy. Good luck!!

I would be inclined to agree with "Fluke" Ii sounds like a mental thing to me,cos I never seem to want the loo till I see someone go into it, then I start panicking cos I can't get in.

Sounds more like a mental issue then a physical condition, so I would avoid taking medication and look at alternative remedies such as hypnosis!! Whatever it is, I hope you get over it soon!! xxx
