I have had three female cats and three males. All neutered cats. I have a particular fondness for male cats as they seem more relaxed and cuddly than the females and that meets my needs. I love my three female cats dearly of course and they do seem more independent and wanting to call the shots on when they choose to be social with me.

I have both female and male neutered cats, the female was way more social. My male cat hides under the bed every time someone comes over to visit. Whereas my female sees whos here and goes up to them for a scratch.
That's from personal experience.

I have 2 male cats and a female. The males are more social to me and my daughters, and the female is more social to my hubby and son. The female has taken over my son in fact. She will follow him everywhere and even at night when I tuck him into bed, she has to be there with him till he falls asleep. But all 3 cats attach to my mom and dad when they come to visit. I think it just depends on the cat... and the people.

Social to people he knows? Or Social to 'strangers'?
I currently have both a male and female cats. The male, is more social to us, his owners, and will want to go outside when we have guests over. The female, on the other hand, just loves having people over, and can't stand her owners.

In my opinion neutered males are more social but it also depends on the personality of the cat.

I find that males are, once desexed they are the easiest to train (mine knows beg, sit, quiet, speak and he's learning shake) he is incredibly affectionate and always greets me at the door when I get home. It all comes down to up bringing though. If you ignore a cat it will ignore you. If you pay attention to it, even when it doesn't want attention, in the long run you will have a far more affectionate cat. the more you play with and cuddle your cat when it's a kitten the more it will want attention. It's like a drug to them LOL. Good Luck choosing your cat!!!

i personally don't think it matters on the cat gender so much as to who it is raised with at a young age. I've had both male and female be very affectionate and some have totally been hermits. just depends on the up bringing I think.

I have 4 females and 2 males...there's really no difference. I believe that it's all in the way they are raised and not gender that determines how social they are.

I've had several of both and among the more social ones I have had, both male and female were equally social.

A neutered male cat is more social (maybe because he doesn't know what you will do to him next). Seriously though, they are more social.
