Once upon a time, the weather channel showed this annoying commercial that said "Head-On, apply directly to the forehead" (it's for headaches).

Then they apparently thought an improvement would be to have people come out and go "Head-On, apply directly to the forehead! Head-On, apply directly --- Head-On, I can't STAND your commercial, but your product is amazing!"

THIS IS NOT BETTER! First, you have to listen to the original "Head-On apply directly to the forehead" thing, then you get people who can't act coming out there and making the annoying commercial even more annoying by admitting the commercial is annoying.

Am I the only one this annoys???

Yeah, I'm still not buying it, and this morning I actually threw a shoe at the tv because I just wanted the freakin weather, not the ugly eye-popper guy to come out and make the annoying commercial more annoying, but I guess I see your point.....

The ad campaign for head on is both a success and a failure. It succeeds in keeping the brand in the minds of the viewers so in that respect it is a success. It fails in that they annoy most people and this in turn brings negitive feelings toward their brand, also if you look at the quality of the commercial (design, voiceover etc.) it looks cheap and low budget, this also makes their product appear to have the same value, cheap. So props to them for being able to make us have their brand in our minds and discussing it on forums but it still can't make us go out and buy the product.

LMAO you are sooo right! That has GOT to be the most cheesy, annoying, low budget commercial advertisement of all time! I would never buy the product because any company who has executives that would sign off on an ad like that could not possibly put out a good product, let alone walk and chew gum at the same time. (And, by the way, what the hell was that girl thinking going on national TV with that hair?)

It's annoying and it's WORKING. It would fail if nobody noticed it.
I have heard people complain about it and that shows they remember it and thats the job of the AD AGENCY.
There have been some great ads in the past that people loved, but a week later they did not remember the product but thought the Ad was great. Results were poor for the product.

They are annoying commercials, but from a marketing standpoint, it's brilliant. Repetition is a key tool in the advertising industry, and their ads boil that down to the core with their robotic voice-overs in the ads.

The trade off for that is that many people will not buy the product based on principle.

you are marketing their product for free, right now. This ad is a raging success. Of course it's annoying

Hardly. But you remember the ad, you know what the product is and what it does and you're talking about it. Head-On may annoy you, but they have a successful ad campaign.

I think they think they did improve it by agreeing that it is annoying. It is very annoying when they play it like 3 times in a row .
