I think people like this truly believe that somehow God is really talking to them. What is really happening is that they have somehow gotten their own sense of judgment and/or reality mixed up with religion.
They get to the point where they pray so hard and so often that it becomes a game. "Oh, hey let's pray and see if God can do this..or that...". If they don't get it, then they just chalk it up as maybe they weren't deserving or didn't pray hard enough. Or if it does happen, then they think today they were good little Christian soldiers and God gave them what they wanted. Anyone can play this game.
I think you're right. It's like anything else in life that becomes an addiction. Strangely, some of the most religious people out there are recovering addicts, in some form or another. So, religion becomes becomes their new addiction to replace whatever it was they were formerly addicted to(drugs, sex, gambling, smoking,etc..)
Remember the story book about the little girl and her imaginary friend? Whenever a plate got broken or something came up missing, she would blame it on her imaginary friend. Or when she did some really good thing that seemed impossible in the eyes of her parents, she would tell them her imaginary friend helped her.
Same idea, different scenario.

I believe some people are general "divine addicts" searching so hard for a meaning to life that they pretty much make up things to feel at peace with themselves.
That being said:
I 100% wholeheartedly believe in a divine force that is pretty much here to give us exactly what we want. "ask and you shall receive" .. just try it out. I do it all the time and get a shocking 90% of what I ask for. Call me crazy but I do have a masters degree and and the most crudely logical person I know. I ask, i get all the time. try it. But you must be specific in what you ask for.
Also there are teachings about our "hunches", "co-incidences", and "intuitions".. Put all that together and yes there very well are guides in many forms but most of us are not "tuned in". But I can assure you that if we were "tuned in" we woulndt be saying "oh lord" all day, we would be bettering ourselves, others, and be genuinely happy.

On the surface, no. I would be likely to wait for further confirmation from the Holy Spirit, if such doors were truly opened by God, then they will open and I will have no need to hammer them down, but if difficulties blocked the way, then clearly the dreams would be of my subconscious making. One must always apply discernment in such cases, even if that means waiting a little while in pray too seek confirmation. This does not in any way imply a lack of faith, on the contrary, it takes patience, wisdom and understand to know just what the Holy Spirit requires from one. Only a fool rushes blindly ahead, and while God can use fools for the most arduous tasks, He also gave us an intellect which we must use through discernment. Peace.

Is right to give him thanks and praise. hi speak to your heart every day but he never take decisions for you, some people is out of control about, they can't separate the voice of God from their feelings, when you are sad and you talk to him he answer you, but if you want to get your groceries and you pray, he has the power for stop the rais and he wont to do that. can you imagine how many people are praying at the same time..some for rain and some for stop the rais, if God would do what we want, you would see little spots raining and other without rain funny don't you? God give us what we need no what we want... he will speak to you to comfort you no for decide what color you have to paint your house...God Bless you

welll, someone who doesn't know God personally will say that these folks are crazy or something close to that. I have personally experienced that God told me not to marry a woman that I was going to marry, and I obeyed him and a few years later I married a nice christian woman that is my wife and a very good woman.. I have known many people with experiences similar and it works. But if you do not have a personal relationship with God through Christ then this will just be babble to you.. God leads HIS children.
We throw away enough food in the USA to feed all the poor and many diseases we have today can be cured by following the dietary laws of the Old Testament.

I wouldn't say they're crazy. But I do know that if I had such a direct line to God and he told me such minute details, I wouldn't be asking about even things like whether I should get married or not--I'd be asking about way to feed the hungry and cure diseases.

When God tells them the winning lottery numbers its a good thing isn't it? Not so crazy then are they, huh huh?
Yeah anyone who believes in anything that isn't there is hearing voices and should be sorta looked into,
some have a genuine belief in God I don't mock that,
but your right,
if I lost my keys and prayed to ol zeus to find my keys and I found them, i guess i should be praising ol zeus

I think they are cool. I like interesting People but then again I'm writing books so any characters are useful for me to develop a plot.
