Ah, the dreaded first date dinner, always makes a woman nervous. If she has any say-so in it, have her suggestions places she is comfortable and familiar with. Don't get the most expensive thing on the menu, but also, don't get the cheapest. General run of thumb. Order something as if YOU had to pay for it.

Avoid food that has a red sauce (like spaghetti) as you don't want that red/orange ring around your mouth that always seems to happen even if you're careful.

Avoid food with a lot of herbs (sprinkled with parsely on top) as the herbs are more likely to get stuck in between your teeth.

After a significant amount of time, at least let the waiter take the plates off the table, excuse yourself to the restroom to double check our appearance, and your teeth.

And generally on the first date, avoid getting the dessert. You might be a person that gets dessert EVERY time you eat out, but this is one time you can wait until after you get dropped off at home before enjoying that scoop of chocolate, chocolate chip ice cream.

Try to be yourself as much as possible. If things go well, you will be eating with this person again. And if things don't go well, hope you enjoyed the free meal.

Your right, just recently i read in a magazine that when women go out for that first meal, they usually eat light as they dont want the man to think they are greedy pigs and that they have ladylike and refine table manners. Its when you are relaxed with the person that you start ordering everything on the menu. I remember a 1st date (meal) my peas went flying off the plate all over the table, the more nervous you are the more likely you will do something silly.

It is not just women who get nervous before a date, and we men also think about stuff being stuck in our teeth, garlic breath, Am I eating to much should I order desert etc.

But a few drinks helps calm you down (not many you want to be relaxed not comatose) or Bach's herbal rescue remedy.

I hope this helps your Friend to know that men also feel like this before a date, and as long as the conversation is stimulating and the company pleasant all your Friends fears will soon drift away as she relaxes with her date.

you are not weird, my best friend gets real nervous..i dont really get nervous about boys full stop, because i have worked with or around them since i was 12, i do of course have the normal wories about stuff in my teeth though! but if a guy you really liked had a bit of food stuck in his teeth but did not notice because he was having fun with you or was just relaxed, would that put you off him? if it would then you dont like him enough! they are exactly the same and do worry! trust me i have played agony aunt to enough! if you do find or see something in your teeth, then make a joke out of it, he will not think you are being groce, just probably feel quite happy that you are relaxed with him enough to be yourself! i dont reckon they spend much time looking at your teeth anyway!!x
