When my love bird's mate died he went into depression... we gave our lovebird lots of attention... i mean lots! we'd take him out of the cage and play and try and make him fly around... it is really sad when they hide their head under the wing and won't eat a thing... I suggest that you talk with a vet or where you bought the bird from, what worked for us may not work for you... good luck and sorry about your loss. And lovebirds usually mate for life so he may not ever take another mate..

get him another partner. lovebirds shouldnt be without their mates. we have lovebirds..one of the females died and my mom immediately got a replacement. my sister's friend said, the partner left behind would die soon after the other bird does coz of loneliness.
