Either one is a good car. The Avalon is bigger than the Camry, and more expensive. Fuel mileage will also be a bit less, and insurance more. I would choose the Camry unless I needed the added room of the Avalon.

Different cars aimed at different markets- I bought a Avalon for my mom, great car she loves it. The camry is more for folks under 60, it all depends on your age and what driving characteristics you are after. Do you want a smoother ride? go for the Avalon (longer wheelbase) do you want a sportier feel? go for the camry sport. Or go drive a Honda Accord, much sportier to drive.
Both will be fine, toyota makes a great vehicle- if lexus would make something more exciting I would buy one, I currently drive a CLS500 Mercedes -lots of excitement. Drives great, looks great

I debated this for two months and leased an XLE. The leasing costs were comparable when I considered the Hybrid with the B package to bring it upto XLE level, because the residual value on the Hybrid is lower. In Ontario, Canada you do get a rebate of $2000.00 applied to the sales tax for the hybrid, which I will not benefit from. I drive a lot on the highway, so the city fuel savings were minimal. I drove the Hybrid and the XLE and found the Hybrid noisy on city streets. Finally, I travel to other cities and states and felt that if the Hybrid broke down, qualified help might not be that easily available. I, therefore, chose the XLE and ordered it. It took me one week to get it in the colour of my choice. If you are in Canada and need some negotiating help go through APA and they will get you good pricing. I have had the XLE now for two days and it drives beautifully. Good luck.

I would choose the 2006 camry.I wouldn't take the first year depreciation. The differences between the avalon and camry aren't great enough to make me pay more,it's just a little prettier. You still get a damn good reliable car.

look at the lexus es 350 - it's cheaper than the avalon. I just did a bunch of research and it was $6,000 cheaper and we got the navigation system. if you're not interested in lexus, then go with the avalon over the camry - simply because it's more luxurious and that can make all the difference. just don't buy white - i'm sick of seeing white toyotas.

Neither. I won't buy any new cars. For one they have gone to aluminum engine blocks. Two the diesels have computers and aluminum heads. I rather buy a pre 1985 diesel and rebuild the whole car. Something that will last 20 years or longer.

Neither, both are way overpriced. Look at a Mercury Montego or Mercury Milan-both way more car for the money.
