Because!

A palpitation is simply where the heart fills twice and beats once.
100% of the population of the world have them but don't notice them. They mostly harmless.
A small number (comparatively speaking) DO notice them. I have them and notice them, it is nothing to worry about unless you are getting pain with it. A palpitation is uncomfortable I know but I've found that if you take a medium breath and hold it, then breathe normally a few times then the natural rhythm tends to return.

If you are concerned then see your GP, who will refer you to a Cardiac Doctor who will perform an electrocardiogram (ECG).
This will either show a problem or it wont, either way the palpitations are still there.

I saw a Dr and it is now on my record in case (touch wood it wont) something happens!

DONT WORRY!

You don't give many details.
Palpitations are most often harmless and associated with increased stimulation.

Substances such as alcohol, caffeine and tobacco and illegal drugs can also cause palpitations.

If you are worried and none of this applies to you visit your GP and ask them for an ECG (EKG) and a 24hour ECG(EKG) sometimes called a holter monitor.

These will be able to rule out any serious dysrhythmias.

If you feel faint or have pain/pressure in the chest, arms, neck or back whilst experiencing palpitations, call an ambulance and go to your nearest emergency department

I get them all the time!

I've had ecg's, heart monitors strapped to me and my heart scanned, all came back clear!

I think it is just stress related! weird though! sometimes you just want an answer.

You'll be fine, go to the Doctor's, get tested, so that when you do experience palpitations you can tell yourself your alright! It helps.

Panic attacks cause palpitations. Regardless, you need to see a doctor. A-Fibrilation could be a reason. Get it checked out.

Me too, had blood tests and ECG - both came back clear.
Avoid caffeine (easy to do) and stress (not so easy). I find mine clear up when I'm relaxed, worse when I'm stressed.
