Both daughters need the TV on or a light and somebody sleeping nearby to get to sleep.

MY son would freak if he knew i was telling this but, he is 12 and has to have his T.V. on and some mornings i wake up to find him in our bed. I think it's an issue if feeling safe and if it helps them let them have a light or a T.V. and once in a while let them stay in with mom & dad. Sometimes things are going on with them that they dont talk about but can feel better by being close to you & feel safe & secure. We just moved from a house to an apartment & there's alot of new sounds and kids need adjustment time with some things.

I know what may help - a quote from TV character "Archie Bunker": "STOP THAT, little girl!" (what he used to say to his daughter when she would get into a tizzy over something) As long as your doors are locked and ground-floor windows are closed, you'll be fine. There are no hidden threats from spirits or other evil entities - what you see is all there is, and if you don't see creepy urban legend characters/situations, then there aren't any and you are SAFE! Now go to sleep, or I'll knock three times and summon the Floating Head of Death! (see the link below and the Gary Larsen comic on that page, along with the sleep-jokes; maybe a few laughs will get you past this thing):

So what's the problem here ? The whole point of going to sleep is just that - to go to sleep. Does it really matter HOW ? There is no "right" way to sleep.

Anyway, we could probably learn a lot from other less sophisticated members of the animal kingdom. How often do you see cats, dogs etc sleeping separately ? Even among our species the concept of people sleeping separately is relatively recent.

If you have teenagers and this is the biggest problem you have . . . . well, I envy you !

Before going to take rest, teach them fropm the Word of God,trust in God ,Love for God & respect for others. This will make them bold & they will be a personality for them self. Then the fear can be easily dealt with. They will sleep comfortablly.Perfect Love(of God)removes all fears.Bible is the Best book for any such problem. Not religion but Grace of God.Both are poles apart.

You can't "stop" someone from feeling a fear. I still need to hear the T.V. before I go to sleep and I'm 27.
