I'm suffering from a nasty chest and sinus infection. I was blowing my nose yesterday, and my left ear popped REALLY loudly and painfully, and now there's a sharp pain every time I blow my nose. I can still hear fine, but I'm also aware of noises coming from within my ear (kind of like paper rustling, I guess that's the only way I can describe it).

I'm very prone to ear infections, but has anyone had something like this? I'm worried that blowing my nose might have caused the pressure in my ears to rupture my eardrum.

No you have not ruptured your ear drum.. When you hear bells or loss of equilibrium & your ears bleeding then is is damaged. You outta go to the doc & get some antibiotic to get this cleared up, if you can. Good luck, I hope this helps you or gives you a heads up as to what to look for. Get to the doc & youll be fine.

Unless you also bled from your ear at the time I wouldn't panic that you've ruptured the eardrum just yet. The best thing would be to go to the doctor, a quick look will tell you for certain.
