Depends on the type of bird -- but peanut butter is a favorite and it really packs the pounds on! However, be careful because the most important issue is health not size. Why is the bird too thin? There could be a serious health issue and you should take the bird to your vet!

Why do you want to fatten it- is it a chook that you want to eat or is it a "pet" species that is skinny?
In either case a healthy bird on a reasonable diet would be underweight. If your bird is getting a normal quantity of food and is still skinny then stop right ther and start to think about other causes for instance Birds GET....
1) WORMS
2) Stomach bugs that destroy the stomach lining and they cant digest food
3)Intestinal bugs that prevent nutrients being absorbed.
I suggest you get a bird wormer form the pet store or vet but because it could bey number of nasties causing the bird to loose weight you would be better off looking for a vet that specialises in/or does a lot of work with birds and see them. That way you can get the wormer and they can start on any necessary tests right away. PS if you decide to go to a vet ask them over the phone if you need to bring cage floor (poo) samples.

A bird with a healthy diet should be at his proper weight, , If you think you bird isn't gaining the proper amount of weight for that bird, try giving it a little more. If it don't help it might have a problem so check it out.

give it plenty of seeds. all birds are seed junkies and give plenty everyday and they put on weight on a seed based diet. Make sure it is the proper seed for that type of bird. The problem will be getting it to eat the pelleted food afterwords which is more nutrient rich than seed but does not taste as good.

Seeds. Seeds are very fatty and they will put on weight. But, if you feed them olny seeds, they will probably not want to go back to eating pellet food (which is better for them). When I first got my cockatiel, she was very skinny. The Vet told me to mix seeds and pellet food (half seeds half pellets). She gained weight (slowly). It took about about 3 months for her to get up to a good weight, but It is better for them to gain it slowly. I hope this helps!
Good luck.
