i have a tattoo that represents my family heritage. and i think it is a beautiful art form when people from a tribe have their traditional tattoos.
however i think it is quite ridiculous when people who have no link to a tribe or culture get a "tribal" tattoo because it is cool or looks tough.

In the old days, I don't think you would have had a choice about whether or not you got it. These days, you do have a choice, and it comes down to what you feel comfortable about doing. I like the idea of a tattoo recording an important event in your life, or marking a specific achievement, or something of that sort, rather than something that is purely decorative.
So, if your culture is important to you, and demonstrating your membership of that group is something you are cool with, then, if you are entitled, and you feel good about the whole idea, then go for it. (The fact that you are asking this question shows that you may have some reservations.)
And that's cool, too. You don't want to jump into something permanent if you're not 100% ready to do so. You can still demonstrate your pride in your heritage in many other ways. Like learning your Polynesian language... :-) , or learning traditional Polynesian music, or dancing, or whatever.
Go for the decision you feel COMFORTABLE with in yourself.

Tattoos are cool I have five my spouse has 12 men and women get tattoos to exhibit their love of artwork and items of love. That affection might be a rose or a cranium or anything they're into. The predominant purpose tattoos are taboo is the bible says deal with your frame as a temple and so much men and women belive that suggests you should not regulate your bodys apperance, however a temple is a position in which you acquire to worship and when you appear on the partitions there may be artwork and stained glass. People adorne their frame with paintings to upgrade it. Another purpose they're taboo is that tattoos had been utilized by bikers and convicts and gang participants as a logo of loyalty. That used to be decades in the past tattoos are the in factor now. Many men and women acquire artwork and exhibit it of on their partitions, men and women who get tattoos are utilizing thier bodys because the canvas and the wall to exhibit thier paintings off

You are marked for LIFE...
I can't imagine anything that I thought was cool when I was young that I would still enjoy now that I'm 50.. Now that I'm 50 and have about 30-40 years yet to live. I'm glad I didn't get one.
They fade and stretch as you age and don't look so hot on your old skin. Dr's and EMT's will see that and could make a judgement about you much later in life.
Yesterday a man came to repair my fridge. He had those gang tats on his hand that some young hispanics have and right away I though, well, he's had a tough past. I didn't dislike him for it, but I saw it and maybe knew more about him than he would prefer a stranger know.

No I won't. You will regret the design on day in the future and there's no way to remove it. It's too permanent.
