Yes, I own a German shepherd. No, it does not require heavy grooming. I spend about 10 minutes a day brushing him and cleaning his ears. I do it in the evening after we finish with work and he is used to it. I also wipe him down with a damp towel and then we go about the rest of our day. 10 minutes a day is no big deal. I have had shepherds that lived to be 14-15 years. My retired shepherd will be 13 in March and besides the fact that he is deaf now, he is still ok.

Yes. I have very lovely, healthy alsation. Requirement of grooming depends on his coat. Some dogs have single coat, while some have double coated hair. But whatever, spending 10 to 15 minutes a day is enough. Grooming is not only to make it look good. While u groom your dog some tics also gets removed. So it is necessary everyday.
We are so much happy with him. I think alsation is the best breed to owe.
Their life depends on how much care u take. But normally they lives 10 to 12 years.

I have owned three German Shepherds and they don't require heavy grooming, only a bath once every month. No big deal. They also need to be brushed once a month after the bath. I recommend that first time buyers choose a short haired as they are a lot easier to look after. I love having the company of my German shepherds they are great companions. As well as they are really good with kids. They are excellent guard dogs and love space. So perfect if you can give them plenty of room. They live for about 12-13 years. One German Shepherds have lived for 15 years depending on their diet. Premiem food is better. The only problem with a German Shepherd dog is that they have arthiritis problems when they are older which can require a lot of medical attention(depending on the severity). Overall I Definitely love the German Shepherd dog and if you are thinking of getting one make sure it's from a registered breeder.

I own two German Shepherd Dogs. I groom them two to three times a week and for both it takes me about 40 minutes. Unless they are blowing coat grooming is not a big deal. They average lifespan of a German Shepherd is 12 years but I have had shepherds that lived to 14 and I know other people that have had long lived shepherds. As to your question if I am happy with them my answer is yes and I will never be without at least one of these highly intelligent and beautiful animals.

They are good dogs to have, your vet can give you a package for their care, all dogs can be dangerous so they need to be under your control through your commands. Full size ones in particular should be trained right away, because of their size. If a dog is not controlled by command then only other way is to over power them by strength, this does not work even for small pocket/purse size dogs.
For a while they were showing hip problems in their old age, but if you keep them trim and get them to run very day this can be avoided.
The other problem was with temper. The bread is gentle but some were showing bed temper in their old age and had to be destroyed , most of it was attributable to training using punishment method, so they were turning mean, due to flash back. In rear cases it was attributed to blood line also.
As a rule bigger dog live longer.

I onwed one during my childhood. You need to get him used to a daily brushing (as with all long haired dogs) You also need to do this daily as the warmer weather approches or the hair will matt up really bad. Do NOT shave his hair. I was very happy with our male. He was easily trained, highly intelligent. He lived to be 13 years old. Good health habits-exercise, good food, plenty of water, lots of love and attention and dicipline is the best for every and any pet you own.
