I have to boast that I make the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. It's my favorite lunch.

Two slices of bread, of course. I put mayonnaise on one slice, lightly, then the sliced cheese. Top with the second slice of bread, butter both outsides (lightly, again).

Your non-stick skillet should be preheated medium low. Set the sandwich in the skillet and put a pan lid over it (I used one slightly smaller than the skillet. Check the progress every minute or two, and turn the sandwich a few times.

The trick is the pan lid. You are baking the sandwich as you brown it so the cheese gets nice and melty without over-toasting the bread. It takes a little practice to get the heat right, but this works.

Experiment with different cheeses, try a little Dijon mustard if you want... pickle slices... thin tomato and basil if you like it. My favorite is plain old medium sharp cheddar.

You can just wipe the non-stick skillet out with a paper towel when you're done.

Toast 2 slices of bread in toaster. Spread butter on both pieces of toast. Put 1 slice of cheese on each piece of toast, on the buttered side. Put together and place in microwave. You can tell when the sandwich is ready when you see the cheese is melted. Sorry I can't give you an exact time in the microwave because all microwaves are different. Easy and good!!

Butter 1 side each of 2 pieces of bread; put slices of cheese between them, like a sandwich; place sandwich in frying pan and brown both sides until cheese is melted.

You could eat some fruit and make fruit salads or vegetable salads. Fruits are good snacks and they help you stay healthy. Smoothies and granitas can help too and they're really easy to make. Hope this helps. Pineapple Orange Granita 1 Cup Pineapple, Chopped 1/4 Cup Orange Juice 1 1/2 Cups Ice Puree pineapple and orange juice in a blender. Add ice and blend until smooth. Use immediately or store in the freezer. For later use, remove from freezer and let thaw until soft enough to break up with a fork. Serves one. In college, we couldn't have hotplates, but we could have a toaster. We used to just toast the bread, and as soon as it came out of the toaster, put sliced cheese between the toast, wrap it in a paper towel, and pop it into the microwave for a few seconds.

It's not quite the same as a traditional grilled cheese sandwich, but when you're in college, you've got to improvise. :)

Take two pieces of bread, put in two slices of American cheese in between the bread slices. Butter the bread slices well on the outer sides of both pieces. Wrap in aluminum foil . Set a hot iron on top of each side on the ironing board until it is done. ..a few minutes on one side, flip, a few minutes on other side...(Note-don't leave the iron unattended and just set it on top, don't scratch the iron by moving it around).

Get two slices of bread. Lightly butter on one side of each (some people like it buttered on both sides of each slice... up to you). Place cheese between 2 slices of bread, buttered sides out. Heat frying pan. Apply sandwich to heated pan. Flip when side is golden brown. Remove when second side is golden brown. Eat.
