I took 1mg of Lunesta and it didn't help go to sleep but it left a nasty taste in my mouth every time I drank water. If I take 2mg, would the taste in my mouth be twice as strong or would it be the same cause I really need to get some rest but I don't want that nasty taste in my mouth for double the amount.

Try a V8.

For the past few weeks I've been using samples that my doctor gave me of both Lunesta and AmbienCR.

The AmbienCR allowed me to sleep for about 5 hours on 6.25mg, or all night on 12.5mg, but I would wake up shaky in the AM on 12.5mg. AmbienCR isn't approved for long term use because of it's addictive nature.

Lunesta allowed me to sleep for 7-8 hours straight through. I don't feel groggy or shaky in the AM, but dealing with the metallic taste is an issue. The 1st night I tried Lunesta I inadvertently took two 2mg tablets (they were in a sample pack and I thought they were 1mg each), and I almost threw up the next morning, not from the meds but from the awful taste in my mouth.

Yesterday morning I was in a hurry, and had taken 2mg Lunesta the night before so I grabbed a V8 out of the fridge to drink on my way to work for breakfast.

The V8 got rid of the metallic taste. Try it and let me know if its just me, or if this works as a general rule for everyone.

My mom took lunesta and it did the same thing to her. the dr said that the bad taste was one of the milder side effects and would diminish the more she took the medicine. I don't reccomend taking 2 mg, unless it has been okay'd by your dr.

A smart individual would try something else - if it left a bad taste in your mouth how could you think using twice as much wouldn't be the same or worse? Rest In Peace.

Maybe breath mints or mouthwash would work for you.
