Cardinal symptom of urinary tract infection

kidney infection

urethritis

Further action required if leukocytes are found in urine

pH

nitrites

blood

send a midstream sample for MC+S

Indicative of inflammation or infection, the presence of white blood cells within or upon casts strongly suggests pyelonephritis, a direct infection of the kidney. They may also be seen in inflammatory states, such as acute allergic interstitial nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, or post-streptococcal acute glomerulonephritis. White cells sometimes can be difficult to discern from epithelial cells, and may require special staining. Differentiation from simple clumps of white cells can be made by the presence of hyaline matrix.

White cells are normally present in urine. If they are more than 5 per high power field in a male or more than 8 per high power field in a female, this is suggestive of infection. Nitrirites are also found in infection.

urine contains natural anti-biotic produced by the body to prevent infection caused by the passage of urine through the body , white cells are the bodies defence system , illness might be indicated by an increase in the usual amount expected to be found in samples , a decrease might indicate that your illness is caused by your body not producing enough .

i dont think theres blood involved in a urinary tract infection, i mean unless it's so serious i havent heard of it kuz mine have never gotten that bad. but the white blood cells would make sense from UTI since it is an infection. are you in pain? because UTI's just make you feel like you're gunna pee your pants and you only pee a little, and then it'll feel uncomfortable until you drink a lot of water and pee it out. Maybe you should have a talk with your doctor? get some advice.. this sounds like it could be serious

Depends on the count, white cells refer to white blood cells (WBC), these are cells that fight any infections in our body by producing antibodies to fight the antigens.

A large count usually implicates the kidneys, you ought to consult a doctor or a nephrologist.

it usually indicates a urinary tract infection. or it could be some other infection, such as a bladder infection. could be nothing serious and will clear up on its own or it could be something which requires medication like a course of antibiotics or some other form of treatment.

get it checked out to be certain.
