A human egg is kind of female but this is only sort of true. An egg only contains half the DNA to make a person - as the mother has two X chromosomes the egg will have one X chromosomes. So in a way the sex is determined by the father as the sperm can have either X or Y.
The BB answer was kind of true as well as obviously the sex of the baby is already determined by it's DNA so the baby is either a male or female from the start. But in the initial stages of growth the embryo developes as a girl (more of a default state) before the male DNA/hormones kick in.
Unless you mean in french when l'oeuf I believe is the MALE article.

If you are talking about chicken eggs:
Out of a dozen eggs you have 1 that is cracked, that would be a female.......
or
All the white eggs are female because they are blonde.......
or
Being the year 2007, I don't think they are either gender....
If it's human eggs:
All eggs are female until the male's x or y chromozones fertilize them...so you'd have to wait til the baby is born to see, or ask at the ultrasound...

The egg contains only the XX chromosomes, while the sperm has X & Y. X= girl, Y=boy.
Egg is neigther, until the sperm fertilizes it and makes a baby!

Eggs have the X chromosome (female).
Individual sperm can have either the X or Y (male) chromosome.

its a female when inside the mother (im talking about human ovary eggs) and another fact i learned off BB, even a boy is a girl before birth - well only for the first two or three (or sommat like dat) weeks!
so boys cant take the mick out of girls - cos we ahve always been girls - unlike you guys, u were girls to start off with!
lol!

Female, it's not until it comes into contact with a sperm that the gender can change.
