Because it is so strong...they figure you only need a little bit. They even call it the eye-opener when mixed with regular coffee. Try adding some sambuca to it.....WEEEEEEEEEEE you will really be ready for the day. Enjoy

Because it is so concentrated and small is a traditional size. I'm sure that you can purchase any size you desire. It may be in smaller sizes that you would have to transfer to a larger vessel.

Want a portable variety with a real bang. Try chocolate covered espresso beans. A real shot in the arm but if you like espresso, its great and a bag can last you all day.

Espresso is to coffee like hard liquor is to beer. If a person drinks too much at one time, it is extremely risky to their health. Plus, the time the caffeine in just a shot of espresso is very very high.

Another thing is that most people just don't like the taste of straight up espresso (me included).

this is because espresso is a much more potent form of the coffee... American coffee is very diluted in comparison. My husband drinks Cuban Coffee and that is STRONG.. I don't know anyone who could drink more than the small amount normally served.
