I think that it means that you should have as much fun as possible. You never know what could happen...you don't know if you will be able to enjoy dessert again, so eat it first!

Dessert is the fun stuff in life. so, don't spend your life working and having no fun. horrible life. eat the dessert, take some risks, have fun!

May be it means do not miss any oppurtunity to enjoy yourself while you slog to achieve that distant goal?But too much dessert is also not good!
