We don't anymore....Christ was the fulfillment of that and there has not been a prophet since John the baptist. Prophets were used by god not because men could not tell right from wrong but because they kept choosing wrong and in his infinite love he continued to give second chances by using prophets to warn of his displeasure and his wrath

Because often a society gets so accustomed to sin they don't actually recognise what they are doing is wrong. A Prophet stands up and warns the society that they have to amend their ways or they will suffer the consequences. For example, God was going to destroy the city of Ninevah, but the Prophet Jonah preached to the city and they repented and God spared them for another 200 years. See the Book of Jonah in the Bible for details.
Addition.
If you look at Ezekiel Chapter 37, the famous "Valley of Dry Bones", you will see what prophecy is about. The Dry Bones are the way God saw all the people around Ezekiel. The sin in them was so bad they were dead in God's sight. Then God asked Ezekiel if they could live, and he didn't know, so God told him to prophecy, he did, and as he did so breath was put into the bones and they became normal living bodies. This is God's way of explaining the importance of a Prophet. When a Prophet speaks in obedience to God, then the people become aware of the "normal" things they do which are in fact sinful in God's sight. They then repent and seek God's forgiveness and lead better lives.
You say "Man [can discern] between right and wrong". The flaw with your argument is many people enjoy doing wrong and don't want to do what is right. I could give you common examples, but you should be able to see it yourself. The big problem is people so enjoy doing wrong they create justifications so they can continue doing it, THAT is why you need a prophet. It is only when a Prophet speaks that people become aware the wrong they enjoy doing, which is commonly called sin, has a cost. The biggest price paid for sin is the belief it is ok with God. Whether you or I like that idea or not, the fact is sin is not "ok with God". He sent his son Jesus to die on a cross because that is how bad sin is in God's sight. That is why the people need heavenly guidence.

Why do we need Prophets? How can you look at any part of the mess we have made here and wonder that we need more information and inspiration from the Almighty one who made us? Obviously most people are not following any Truth at all. They choose to do evil, and not to know the Almighty.

Hello Answer buddy,
i'll try and answer this great question
Yes, you are right,... We all have the ability with to discern what is wrong and right, our conscience is placed within us to communicate these things to us... BUT...
Many of us still choose NOT to listen to what is right, and often opt out to the 'wrong' choice.. our conscience speaks up, but we block it out... (sometimes myself too)
Its just like we have taken the battery out of the smoke detector.
God chooses people or 'prophets' to speak to us what we have shut out of ourselves, and speak on behalf of God,
Sometimes we may think we don't need help or that we do not need to be reminded of something, but God, in his grace and provision offers us another chance,,, if we listen
Thank you, good question too.

without "the prophets" you would have not be able to ask this question about God...menatally man created himself thousands of pagan Gods....but "the God" you are talking about is known only by his messengers who are only showing you the way..but they did not force anyone to "do" or "not to do"....and also what is righ for you maybe wrong for me !!!...let`s read what GOD says.

The future is unknowable, because it hasn't happened yet. Humans can imagine a future, but cannot know what it holds. Humans fear the unknown.
Prophets give us the comforting illusion that we can know the future, thereby diminishing our fear.

Xactly!
well, actually... the self-governed by the Will needs no external flow...
The Self meshes with the divine and therefore acts according to the Will.

We don't need them. It's a good thing that we don't, because there are no real ones. There's no god or Heaven either.
