Anyone else's cat do that? She will do her business, scratch the heck out of the top of the litter box for 5 min, jumps out and starts meowing a few times. I think its really weird that she meows afterwards. She does it pretty much every time whether we are upstairs, downstairs, or sleeping at night. Its like she's trying to tell us she used the bathroom or something. We got her this summer, 4 yrs old. So I'm not sure how her previous owner treated her after using the litter box.

Each cat is unique and individual cats do have their own weird habits. That's why being a cat owner is such a joy. This meowing sounds like something your cat does out of habit. But of course we'll never know for sure what she's trying to say. However it really sounds like a pretty interesting habit.

some cats make weird purring/meow/gurgle noises if they are in pain or uncomfortable. theres a chance its normal for her but i would take her to the vet and have them check for a urinary tract infection just to be on the safe side. cats are very good at hiding pain or discomfort. sometimes it helps to get a recording of the noise and show your vet too. good luck!

Wow, I thought my cat was the only one that did it. My one kitty (4 mos. old) talks to me too after he has done his business, he usually wants to be pet right after wards too. Thor really likes getting praise so I guess that must be the reason. Good luck with the cat!

don't worry. Your cat is perfectly normal.
The meowing after using her litter box is typical kitten behaviour. She is telling her "mum" that she has done her business, and the mother cat will come and cover it up.
No worries, Enjoy your kitty :-)

She is definitely trying to tell you something. As other guys say, she's saying that she's good girl doing her business where she's supposed to. But she might also be saying: my litterbox is not that clean any more, could you clean it up for me... That's just a thought.

Hi there...I have a cat who sings for a full minute prior to using the toilet so perhpas it's a learned superstitious behaviour when they were young. It's as if he's announcing to us that "hey, I'm going to go potty now!"

Yep, she wants you to tell her she's a good kitty. My cat attacks and "kills" rolled up balls of paper and afterwards comes over and meows until I tell her that she is a brave hunter. :)

When mine took a dump, she used jump out and take off across the house at break neck speed, which was funny for us because when she'd hit linoleum or wood, she'd lose control and slide into things.
