Hi. I'm a 19 year old Muslim. if i don't pray 5 times a day, how big sin am i doing??
I never steal or lie or do those kind of 'bad' stuff! it's just the praying i'm asking! thanx.

I can't say how many times I pray, cause I pray for Allah (God) and now if I tell you,,,,then it will be KINDA riya (show off).
But tell you one thing.....that I always try to pray 5 times a day, as we are ordered by Allah.

And leaving a prayer with intention is really a big sin.
I mean,,,,,IF you know it is the time for prayer and you don't care about it and don't pray,,,,,bro it is really a BIG sin.
But if it happened to anyone,,,,,,,,they should know that Allah is the most forgiving and merciful. And they would have to repent to Allah so he can forgive the sin.

Why are you thinking about the sins.
What you should be paying attention to is the reward of prayer.
Looking at the sins is like saying I am not going to pray if the punishment is not a big one (WHICH IT IS BY THE WAY)

Isn't your relationship between you and God your own business. Why would you ask "fellow Muslims"? Be your own man. Decide for yourself if you feel the need to pray 5 times a day or if you are leading a good life. Praying is a great thing, but if you are only doing it to please other people, that is pretty hollow. Follow your own conscience.

Peace be upon you.
First, prayer is a must in Islam, it is one of the pillars of islam, and if you do not pray you cannot claim yourself to be a muslim. You cannot choose what you want from the religion and what you do not want. Either you are a muslim or not. And if you are, it is 100%. If you are not, it's 0%. Practicing half and denying the other half is not Islam.
Second, many people do not do those bad things as lying and robbing etc, but this doesnot mean they are pleasing God, as to please God, you must at least pray to God and be grateful for his mercy. As someone else said in his reply to you, look for the reward of praying.
If you do not pray according to many traditions, God won't realise any of your demand.
If you are keeping away from bad things its good. Why don't you do one more good thing, which is a pillar of Islam if you are really a believer in Quran and believe in the prophethood of Muhammad?

My girlfriend is Muslim, and she prays several times a day. I think she combines prayers.
I'm an atheist. Prayer really is a waste of time, IMIO. Sin is an outdated concept. Open your eyes. Think for yourself. One man with a hammer can do more than a million people praying.

you are gonna be just fine! it could never be a sin because I know a lot of Muslims who don't pray at all -ever- and no I am not kidding. I mean a lot of Muslims. they are all friends of mine, one even became a christian because she said it was bad in her world - good for her.So all these non praying Muslims believe in Mohamed and Allah but in a very different way. they are all healthy happy and successful!
