Chicken Pox is usually passed on by touch or if someone with it coughs or sneezes in your direction and vicinity.

The person is infectious before they get the spots so is not easily detected, but is at it's most infectious when the spots are weeping. The infectious stage lasts for around 6 to 10 days.

Even when the chicken pox spots are gone the child/adult hasn't necessarily completely got rid of the virus as the virus can hide in the body.

In later years if exposed to Chicken Pox again, the virus can be the cause of Shingles.
