I would say it would have to be egypt, as opposed to the countries on the opposite side of the red sea like jordan.
If you want a busy resort sharm el sheikh is ideal as lots of restaurants and bars.
The resorts further north like hurgharda are a lot quieter.
In taba the nighlife is centred in the hotels itself, and if you like going to different places and eating out in different restaurants you may get a bit bored.
All the hotels have armed guards and usually have private beaches which are also guarded, so its not too bad.
As a single female traveller in egypt you may attract some attention, but if you dress modestly when walking about you will be fine.

Anywhere in the Red Sea will be safe enough. The nicest place is Taba Heights or Hurgarda and these are the easiest places to be if you want to do a tour to the Pyramids etc.
The best way to book this as you are a single traveller is to book your flight and hotel accommodation seperatly but dont forget that you will need transfers.
All the hotels in Taba Heights are wonderful in Hurgarda choose a min 4 *.
The prices at the moment for Egypt are really cheap and you can pick up a hotel from as little as £14 per person per night.

I have been to the red sea twice with partner, jolieville movenpick in luxor is fab if you just want to chill. set on an island on the nile great pool, evening music on the terrace, good food, all in the most beautiful surroundings. Luxor is cultural, 10 mins away, but dont venture out on your own, you will be swarmed by people selling souvenir's, trips etc, they really do wear you down.
Second visit was to coral beach in sh-arm, more splendid than luxor but not as nice a setting, no temples etc though trips are a big thing, garden reef snorkeling has to be done, well organised and you wont be hassled as you will be with a group, nice pool etc and on the edge of the beach. Advise to just exercise a little more modesty than at home as girlie's in Egypt are modest and quieter. I hope you have a great holiday !

All countries around the Gulf are potentially dangerous but if you really have to be there then the best option would be Egypt. The fundamentalists will target any Westerner or foreigner at any time so you still have to maintain some vigil. Secondly, even if you decide to proceed for your holiday, do not do anything that is provocative to anyone as you do not know what the reaction can be. Observe decorum as much as possible and avoid dangerous places. Eyes and ears open all the time 24/7. Bon voyage!

All the countries in that area pose a threat to a single female who is not native.
However, if you're staying at a resort you should be just fine. It's when you're out of the resort that you need to be a little careful.
Where ever you choose to stay, learn the customs and make sure to follow them as best you can. Try to be respectful.
When my cousin was in Sudan she got some nasty stares for wearing a tee shirt. Appearently, she was showing too much skin. However, no one bothered her within her resort.
