Had acute pain for 6 weeks - already take variety of pain relief for acute back condition and those pills don't even take edge off... Doctor mentioned steroid injection. Any one been down this route? Thanks.

I have plantar fasciitis
My current treatment is accupuncture whilst I,m waiting for my biomechanical assessment for correcting the position of my footon the NHS.
steroid injection is an old fashioned treatment and has possible side affect of rupturing the achilles tendon.
asked for referral to the local Podiatry Dept. I left it far to long befor I asked for help they'e used to dealing with these problems.

With the history you gave this could be the only treatment before surgery has to be contemplated..

Usually there is a 'spur' of the calcaneum which keeps the inflammation on-going. The special steroid suspension is infiltrated around the spur and in the inflamed tissues.

If combined with a long acting local anaesthetic solution the relief may be instantaneous and long lasting.

Yes, I have been there and had the jab. Very successful in my case though the jab itself was quite painful. However, the results are worth it. You have my sympathy for suffering such a very painful condition. It does get better though.
