this my strike many of you as a bizzare question but i was just wondering when a doctor is looking at your throat how does saying "ahh" help the doctor locate any problems your throat may have?

by saying aahhhh, you are moving the epiglottis

By making that sound it opens up you throat and your tongue kinda moves out of the way so he can see your throat better.

saying..."aahh"...pulls the epiglottis up and out of the way, to give the doctor a clear view of the throat and tonsils...

I beleive it opens it up wider when u do the "ahhh" thing. SO they can see further down ur throat.

maybe the "ahh" sound opens your throat wider so he can see better
