I think you are referring to the Canaanites.They were another group of people who were enemies of the Jews.

There were several ethnic groups or families by this name. Usually when you see something like this, you're looking at a group of people who had a common ancestor.

For example the Hittites mentioned as living in Canaan were descendants of a man named Heth. (They were not the Hittites who lived in Turkey.)

If the Bible doesn't give the name of the ancestor, you won't really be able to figure it out.

(There are a lot of people who like to dabble in Biblical fiction that will tell you that the Kinites were descendants of Cain. The only reference ever made to this group in the Bible that I know of is in Genesis 6 where their females were called "the daughters of men".)

The word "Kinite" is not in the Scriptures in the KJV. (that is the version I have an exhaustive concordance to.) Cite book and verse, then if we have a different translation we will know what you are talking about.
