Your easiest option is to get Portugese citizenship from your parents nationality. Then, being an EU citizen you have the right to live or work anywhere in the EU. British citizenship will be quite difficult to get, and beleive it or not your child will not have British citizenship either, despite being born in Britain. I know this sounds unbeleivable, but is a fact - a child born in UK of non-uk citizen (you) inherits its mother's nationality, unless the mother is married to a uk citizen (which you are not). I have a similar situation myself, so have been through this with uk home office.

I think you should get your separation from your EX legally completed. Work on common law or spousal sponsorship with your current boy friend and apply for residency in Britain. I don't think you will have a lot of trouble obtaining the status. Since you are a Canadian citizen and if you meet the basic requirements you should be alright.
