I just moved into a new apt and my roommie and I both brought our cats. So no cat had time estab. a territory. Both are girls, which I know is a bad combo, but it's what we had. We kept them separated until both got adjusted and let them out. It started out ok but now it's turned into my cat chasing the other back into my roomie's room. Is there a way to stop this? How did you handle cats getting along? Any good websites or resources for help?

Just wanted to clarify, yes the cat is chasing and it's definitely aggression (coupled with hissing and growling and sometimes swiping - and so far missing - with her paws) No biting yet but I don't want it to progress that far.

Female cats don't scent spray, Cobra.

Some cats get along, some don't. If they really hate each other and fight, you might have to step in if it goes too far. Other than that, I suggest you let them work their cat differences out naturally, they'll settle down after a bit.

It seems one cat has taken the rest of the place as its own territory over the other cat. I wouldn't be as concerned over the chasing as I would be over the prospect of the cat starting to spray its territory leaving you with the smell.
I have found two ways of stopping my cats from unwanted behavior;
At the first sign of the behavior (which is the most important) make a sharp loud hiss, it will stop them in their tracks.
Secondly, a spray bottle of water will also have the same effect. Eventually the cat will get the idea that what it is doing will bring it discomfort and will eventually stop.
