First things first...
It's either there, or its not. She already knows whether or not she'd go out with you if you asked or not. Have the mindset that if she doesnt want to go out with you, it doesnt mean there's anything wrong with you. Try and think of something you and she share in common...a common interest. Invite her to a concert of a band you both like, a club where you both like the music, or something fun and harmless like the zoo. I suggest a public place, and even take others (group date?) so she's not threatened by intimacy too quickly. If you go this route, jokingly clarify "hey...ur goin with me tho,right?" just so she knows where you're coming from. Now...if you're gonna ask...be prepared for the answer! lol If she says no, just gracefully accept her answer, leave it open by saying 'maybe another time might be better' (but understand it probably won't happen), and then laugh off bein shot down with your friends. They'll give you the strength and acceptance that there's nothing wrong with you...n that she's missing out.
If she says yes....tell her on the date that you wanted to ask her out so badly but didnt know how and even posted the question here. She'll think that's cute and appreciate your shyness and understand what you had to overcome in order to ask her out. All of those earn you MAJOR cool points.
One last note...if you're intimidated because of her beauty or popularity...DONT BE. The prettiest girls dont get asked out by everyone who'd love to take them because of the same fears you have RIGHT NOW. Be a man and.....GO FOR IT! No home runs unless you swing (you're allowed 3 strikes!)
