I have two birds that are in permanent cages (not an option to take these cages down). I am going to be using spray paint in the room where their cages are. I will be taking my birds OUT OF THE HOUSE, when I do the painting. Dont worry, the cages will be covered with heavy duty plastic from top to floor.

How long do my birds need to be out of the house, and how long out of their room before bringing them back?

Open a window while you're doing it, and then when your done, put in a fan to get the fumes out. I'd give it an hour or two with the fan, which will also help your paint dry, and then you should be able to bring them back in.

I just painted my livingroom and diningroom, and my macaw "helped". I just made sure a window was open and then he hung out with me. I used the fan after I was done to help keep it ventilated.

I would call my avian vet for an official day count. I would say at least a week in cold weather.

I would clean the cages from top to bottom with soap and water before bringing the birds back in.

Your birds should be kept out of the house until you can't smell the paint anymore so open up some windows so it will speed up the time. Good Luck

This depends on the paint.
Water based paints take up to 3 days to dry but 30 days to cure.
Oil based paints take up to 5 days to feel dry, but about 60+ days to cure.
If you can, put them in another room for about a week.
