Obviously true. It has been witnesses first-hand (yes, including "macro-evolution")

People want to believe evolution is true - therefore they do. It is the only way for an atheist to justify his position. (although there are christians who believe in evolution also). From an atheistic point of view though, there could be no question of believing in a creator God, so there is only one alternative. Man is rebellious by nature against God - evolution provides the justification for the atheistic position but is also an example of this rebelliousness.

The universe is so finely balanced and put together that the most reasonable explanation is that there is a creator. That isn't to say that it is impossible to occur by chance, but the odds of this occuring are so vanishingly small that the existence of a creator is a much more plausible explanation. For example - consider the old theory about a room full of monkeys being able to produce the works of Shakespeare on typewriters given an infinite amount of time. If you were given one of Shakespeare's plays, which is most plausible?; that it was written by a bunch of monkeys or that it was written by the man himself - the monkey theory is not impossible but any rational person would reject it because it is just so unlikely.

Most of the time pro-evolutionists answer this question by just stating that it's true or been proven - but then provide no logical argument to back up their belief (perhaps because they don't want to or aren't prepared to consider the implications of the alternative explanation). On the other hand Purity gives many reasons in his/her answer why there are gaps and flaws in the evolutionary argument and which deserve serious thought.

People don't like to have their firmly held beliefs challenged and can be irrational in the way they hold on to them - I suspect this is the case with a lot of pro-evolutionists. I, incidentally, used to believe in evolution and think the creationist theory a lot of nonsense but the more I have considered the evidence and arguments the greater the balance swings in favour of creation (and therefore a creator).

As with all real scientific theories it is true, until proved wrong or until a better theory is developed. This has not happened, so it is still true.

That may sound weak to the creationists, but there is more reason to doubt Einstein's General Theory of Relativity than to question evolution.

This question should not be asked in the Religion & Spirituality section. It is a Science question.

Science and religion don't really have a good relationship. In the 17th Century Galileo was pronounced a heretic by the Catholic church for saying the Earth revolved around the Sun. The Church continued to deny this right up until 1992! How many more centuries do we have to wait for them to accept evolution?

Personally I don't understand why it took so long to accept Galileo's arguments. If they had been accepted instead of denied the Church could have gained a better understanding of the universe. Instead of assuming it contradicted the bible, they could have continued to believe and gained new insights into its meaning. The same can be said for evolution.

Your question unfortunately is impossible to answer or are you asking just for an opinion? If that is the case, whilst I am not a creationist I do not accept evolution as a workable theory especialoy as there is no evidence to support it. I think there is evolution on a very localised basis based on the survival of the fittest but I do not believe that humans are descended from apes or anything else really.

Why is this in the "Religion and spirituality" forum? It's clearly an issue about science.

Evolution is more true than Creationism or any other hypothesis. It is a scientific theory that explains how we came to be and is useful in science. I couldn't say it was false, because the evidence proving it to be true is overwhelming. That's not to say it's 100% true, but I cannot say it is false without lying.

When people haven't looked into creation they always give a more certain answer, because they haven't thought about reasons why they could be wrong. So they don't know why creation could be true. The knowledge of self, with nothing outside is very high and dence and until someone actually digs through the bricks they wont see the possibilities.

If evolution weren't true, it would not be taught in schools. That is why alot of people are shying away from creationism being taught. The only thing supporting creationism is a book and faith. There is scientific evidence of evolution.

Evolution is just one theory to how life was started and how we came to be here in the first place (agree with it btw) but i think its important to say that just because we can use science to prove it, its easy for the religious amongst us to use their holy books as evidence and proof too. Claiming that evolution is fact and religion is fiction is hardly fair if you dont look at both sides.

If you are talking of us evolving from Monkeys then at present it has not been proven to be true & scientists are looking for a missing link.
Do you think that its True or False?

True. Evolution is not a theory, it is a fact. get used to it.

It's true beyond any shadow of a doubt-science accepts it as a proven fact. Ignore the creationist misinformation that tries to state otherwise.
