I lived in Japan many years and never felt anything when visiting shrines or temples there. On one occasion, however, when I entered a temple ground, I felt a strange sense of something evil being there. I felt as if I were somehow unwelcome at that temple. As I entered the temple farther, the feeling grew.

I soon found out why. When I arrived at the temple proper, I saw a wall covered with photographs of soldiers who had died during World War II.

I now live in Saipan, in an area called Death Valley. This is the area of the heaviest fighting here during WWII. When a Japanese friend of mine visited my home, he felt extremely cold (although Saipan is a tropical island and quite warm) and sensed the souls of dead soldiers at my home. He was so overwhelmed by it that he stayed at my house for only about 10 minutes and then hurried out.

I think there are places where there are, as you say, "powers" residing or where they have some influence.

There are no malevolent forces in this world or the afterlife.

Demons, devils and Satan are NOT real. They represent the insistent self within each one of us. Evil is the absence of goodness, and does not exist.

Evil does not exist. Only good exists.

If you are feeling malevolent forces are around you, or think you are, pray! Just pray, The LORD'S Prayer is good. Reject the acknowledgment of anything but the Grace of God.

Thanks be to God!

I believe so. I have been to a few places where, even my Agnostic husband had to admit he felt the energy of the place. As for feeling negative energy... only when I'm around someone that is negative. I haven't felt it in a place before.

For me, places in this rural area that are dark and spooky give me a bad vibe- even if it's all in my head, it's easier to have an accident or a bad night out or whatever if it gets to me.
So, psychologically, definitely.
Spiritually? Well, I can't prove that idea wrong, but it doesn't make sense to me.
