In the words of the mother on Two and a Half Men,

"Good God, will this raising children never end?"

Well, for one, even if the adult child helps out around the house, extra people around cost more money - whether that be in groceries or electricity. Adult children have adult friends that they like to bring over. When they are little, the kids go home at a decent hour- its even cute, but when you are grown and your kids friends are grown, its a pain. Plus, if the adult is bringing home a girlfriend/ boyfriend and is having sex with them, they don't take to kindly to that. Adult kids have opinions of their own and have difficulty respecting the "my house, my rules" philosophy.

This may sound awful but I am dead serious- but I think that the number one reason is to be able to have the same space they had before the children were born and a chance to re-kindle their relationship, relax, run around naked if they want AND so they can make out and have SEX without their kids going "eeew stop!"

It's time for the parents now
They have done their part If your an adult it's time to be an adult, you can't live with your parents for ever rather selfish if you do. Let mum and dad have their time.

You must not have gone through the teen years yet! I think the teenage years are to get the parent to a point where they look forward to them moving out. It's a teens job to drive the parents crazy and it's the parent's job to be overprotective and worry about their teen so the teen is looking forward to being on their own. That's my theory.

When the child grows up and moves out then the parent has successfully done their job to raise them and get them to the point where they can stand on their own two feet.

It has to be a result of failed parenting when your 30 yr. od won't move out on their own.

It's not a question of parents wanting their kids to move out but at one time or another in your life, you're going to have to learn to make it on your own just like they did.

Because they have done their job of raising a child and want to see the child succeed on his own. Parents are also people that want their nest back.

Because that's what we work for all of those years. We arm them with all of the common sense and confidence we can give them and it's time to set them free. If we love them then we're never far away and can always lend a hand.

Well, you said it yourself, they are now adults and must learn to live like it. It's not so scary. A lot of freedom and growth come with it.
