I have tried add/remove programs, but it isn't listed. The software came with a BT/Yahoo package and was d-loaded, so i don't have a disc. It shows in my applications/tools on my C:drive but it won't get rid of it. I have tried to delete the folder and have tried seperate add/remove programs. I have also tried to re-install from the original link, but it detects that it's already installed, therefore refusing to reinstall it. I have also tried to restore to an earlier point, but my PC will not restore. I recently had a 3GP player which i tried to remove as it was a keylogger. When i tried to uninstall this, it actually told me that i was removing my System Mechanic program which is a program that i use and don't want to remove.

Please keep answers fairly simple as im not great with computers, and please don't waste your own time giving dumb answers to get points as you will then automatically become a great big loser.

First look on the program itself for an uninstall start > all programs > norton antivirus 12004 ( or symantec or norton whatever) look for an uninstall close to the bottom If not reinstall the norton antivirus reboot and look again as you did note: you can go foreward with norton but not backwards ( i.e 2003 ,2002 etc) at the worst go my computer > c drive > programs > norton antivirus or symantec ( assuming you have no other norton products) try to delete the folder as a last resort if it does not allow you reboot into safe mode ( f5 or f8 on booting into windows) this is only a last step - not a first it is like pulling our a cancer and will cause a lot of problems try the other steps first

Click `start`, click `my computer`, open `program files` look for anything to do with `symantec` and delete it.

Or do a search `symantec` this will show you all folders etc on your PC that belong to symantec. Delete them.

Norton is the pits!

sounds like your getting denied access error when deleting.try shutting it down in task manager ( ctr+alt+delete end process) then u should be able to delete it.only thing is it might be hard to find what processes it is using in task manager since most of the primary components have been uninstalled. or try uninstall in safe mode.

Go on their site and download their removal tool. I uninstalled mine and didn't have any problems so I didn't need to use it, but I'm guessing it works well
