Does cats REALLY have 9 lives..... Or is it just a mith?

It's a myth. It's believe to have originated by the way they fiercely cling to the life that they have. They have often managed to have all sorts of accidents and still come out smiling even when limping.

Nine has always been a mystical number like the Trinity of Trinities, the luckiest of numbers. Cats also have an amazing righting reflex that enables them to change direction in mid air.

All of this probably led to the nine lives theory.

I don't think so. Some might, but not all of them do. I have 2 cats, one is 16 the other is 13. I just buried my 2 year old cat recently, she only had 3 lives. She almost died two times before a car hit her. It all depends mostly on if they are indoor or outdoor cats.

I wish she had 9 nines, I really miss her a lot.
It's definitely a mith!!

It has only been said because cats are specially made to land on their feet, time and time again. This is why they are meant to have 9 lives, but they really don't.

Cats are able to get in & out of trouble; also close calls which we would end up to be crucial, critical, or even fatal to us. thats why it is said cats have 9 lives

Cats are said to have nine lives because of their curiosity. They are able to get themselves into trouble that we would consider a close call/brush with death and they still manage to survive. That is why they say they have nine lives.

I would swear my old cat did have about 15 lives.... but since then I haven't seen any proof of that. I think it's an old wives tale. Too bad =( !!
