Actually, properly used, the Bible is the best 'defense' against those who speak against anything while using biblical evidence.

This is because Jesus himself laid down the parameters for his followers, few of which are observed.

Where is the prayer in quiet as opposed to the loud public demonstrations, where is the 'love thy neighbor', where is the forgive thy brother 70 x 7 times (and who of them remembers who their brother is?)

The secular world IS the brother to the spiritual world, and Jesus said himself that "If you bring your gift to the altar and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift."

In all actuality, scientific laws ARE the laws of God, including the laws of biology, for they reflect God's nature. 2 angels + 2 angels = 4 angels, and when they travel throughout the universe at 299,792,458 m / s (speed of light) they exist as energy, as understood by Einstein's law of relativity. Genesis itself is philosophically 'proven' in the fertilization of an egg, and the embryonic division that takes place (from a single cell it splits into two (the first division), then into four (the second division) and so on and so on.) which means that evolution is actually the 'truth' of God. It does not say WHAT kind of man Adam was when he left the Garden of Eden; the classical representations of Adam and Eve had more to do with cultural bias than scientific fact.

Creationism really is a non-starter. There's no real theory there, just attacks against evolution. The best they came up with is "irreducible complexity" which is almost a theory, except that it really isn't demonstrable.

If you want a good book on the topic, try any of Richard Dawkins' books. They are well-written and easy to understand. He has several on the topic of Creationism vs evolution. His latest, "The God Delusion", talks about the pros and cons of religious belief.
