I wrote an entire speach on this and got the highest honnors anyone ever got from my speach teacher (so I am told). The thing is I am a Christian and no one EVER expected me of all people to support it. I think I changed many minds on the subject to be Pro-Euthanasia.

I gave my spech sometime before my graduation last year, and gave it alot of though. Now I have been thinking of it ALOT, and just want to know what you all think about it.

Davidus I am very sorry for my noticeable spelling errors, but seeing how I look at internet chatting as an informal way of communication I am not one to bother to pay attention to minor details. However, since you seem to be so caught up in ones way of writing properly then perhaps you are aware that when you are writing a sentence you always do so with a capital letter. If I’m not mistaken that was a rule that was taught in first grade.

Nonetheless, I’m sure that was just a small slip up on your part. Not to mention you inability to correctly use a comma. I know I’m not perfect, and will not ever try to be, but if you insist on critiquing someone else's writing, perhaps you might want to look over your own first. Mabye one of your highly intellectual friends that has a brother or sister in first grade that can do it for you.

Everyone else thank you for your imput, and I am sorry for the grammatical and spelling errors.

I have given speeches on the same subject as well (although usually they center more around physician assisted suicide), and I agree with you. Your life is the one thing in the world that you truly own. If you choose to end it the law should not interfere.

Perhaps you should ask the Church of England about this subject. You know them, they are the ones who Authorized the fifth version of the King James so many people use. Six months ago, they came out with the statement that perhaps euthanasia would be best for children born with birth defects.

As a nurse I have seen many, many people suffering horribly in the last stages of cancer and other diseases. I often think to myself if this poor person was a dog, someone would have ended his pain long ago. The religionists will say that the time of death is left up to their gods. It makes me want to scream at them about worshiping such obvious sadists. It's difficult for me to accept that those entities they humble themselves before have any shred of decency or mercy. I would rather we could end the pain of these folks, and send them peacefully and painlessly into their deaths. Hospice nursing care is improving, and at least that gives me hope. I only hope that when my time comes, someone shows me a little human mercy.

I had given a speech once also and people told me that they were very moved and I change their minds on the subject. I absolutely want the option. The only people who disagreed were religious and since all people aren't religious I don't believe we should force others to follow their beliefs. I will be sure to move to Oregon should I ever become terminally ill.

I am all for it .Why drag out the suffering and pain of the terminally ill .Isn`t it better to " Go in your sleep "rather than screaming in pain and pumped full of drugs for pain.
I have planned for me they way I am going .I have high BP.Diabetes,High chloresterol, and chronic pain from back injury.
I have a " Bottle" That I will take when I have had enough pain and devastation from any of the previously mentioned conditions.
A long and painless sleep is the way to go .

Well, you wouldn't leave your dog to suffer, so why let a beloved family member suffer, if it were me suffering constant severe pain, bedridden, the end is near, I would like to be given the choice.

i don't believe in it. I'm against it.i believe that you are tampering with life and the existence of it, even up to the end. i think it's the easy way out, despite suffering. there is a purpose to everything that exists and is existing.i think that by interfering the last days of ones life is abominable.one must continue unto the very end....

I have watched my mother, a well loved aunt and countless friends die slow wretched deaths...with my mother it was all I could do not to put a pillow over her face..It would have been so much easier on her/on me. I think we treat our pets better. If you have ever seen anybody die a horrible death..what were you keeping them alive for?--Yourself?
